Bed and Breakfast and Chinon Wines
Bed and Breakfast
Upstream of Chinon, home of Rabelais, the Domaine de Beauséjour dominating on its right bank the valley of the Vienne welcomes you in rooms of host in the seasons of your choice, or in lodging, for short or long stays.
The presentation of the Estate is that of a story of men and passions.
This quick presentation of the Domaine shows how the wine terroir of Chinon AOC Beauséjour has become associated with the human adventure of the men who wrote it and who continues to do so.
Jacques CHAUVEAU, doctor, buys in 1951 a traditional farm of the area, in full terroir of the vineyard Chinon AOC.
Gérard CHAUVEAU, son of Jacques, architect and urban planner, who became owner in 1968, will look for a modern and functional winery:
- starting to plant his first vines from 1969, according to a plantation scheme established in order to obtain optimal vine quality,
- by enlarging the Domaine to its current size, by exchanges or purchases, in order to group the various production plots in one single unit,
- by building in 1978 a winery of 500 m2, semi-buried, equipped with a stainless steel vat room for a rational work on three levels.
In 1986, the digging at the bottom of the cellar of a gallery of 150 meters, planned from the beginning, will be completed, thus ensuring the stored bottles an excellent conservation.
That same year, the redevelopment of the farm, which houses the storehouse and the offices, from which all the processing of sales orders is done, as well as the shipments, will be carried out.
David CHAUVEAU, Gérard's son, has been in charge of winemaking since 1995 and has been managing the property since 1998, with his mother Marie-Claude, who takes care of the guest rooms and the gîte.
In addition to the wines of Chinon AOC Beauséjour, vinified in a traditional way, David offers the Domaine's customers different cuvées including those of "L'Angelot", matured in oak barrels and since 2006 a sparkling rosé, champenoise style.
The maturity of the vineyard also allows it to produce Vieilles Vignes "La Chesnaye" vintages, revealing all the subtleties of Cabernet Franc. Its perfect mastery of winemaking techniques ensures that the range of Chinon AOC wines on the property has a very high level of quality and a wide variety of flavors.
